Renovation Plans

With most of the demolition done (I figure we’d skip the boring stuff) we set our sights on the renovation. We decided to start in the master bedroom, finish the entire room, and move on from there. I’m hoping the sense of accomplishment once we’re done will keep us motivated to do the other 90% of the house.
To get an idea of the magnitude of our project, here’s what we plan on doing:
- Prime and paint every wall and ceiling (cover up the smoke damaged surfaces)
- Engineered Maple floors in all living areas, halls, closets, and bedrooms
- Ceramic or porcelain tile floors in all wet areas (i.e. baths, utility room, possibly kitchen)
- New windows in every room
- New trim and casing around windows and doors in every room
- Crown molding in every room
- New baseboards in every room
- New doors and frames in every room
- Recessed lighting in bedrooms and living areas
- New electrical outlets in entire house
- Speakers in every room (multi-room audio)
- Convert one of the three hall closets into a media closet
- New toilets
- New sinks, cabinets, and vanities
- New shower for master bath
- New tub and shower for hall bath
- New lighting fixtures for all bathrooms
- New ceiling fans for all bedrooms and den
- Replace wood paneling in den with sheetrock
- Replace entire kitchen (cabinets, countertops, range, ovens, sink, refrigerator)
- Knock out wall separating kitchen and den to open up kitchen
- Knock hole in wall between kitchen and living room to create a formal living/dining
And that’s not even including the outside. Intimidating list. Let’s get started…
